Bagong Henerasyon assisted the Department of the Interior and Local Government or DILG in the development and promotion of the electronic GMAC or e-GMAC. The GMAC, which stands for “Gabay sa Mamamayan Aksyon Center (Guide to Citizens’ Action Center)” is basically an information and referral center in the barangays (local communities) which aims to bring the government closer to the people. e-GMAC is a “virtual” information and referral center that replicates and provides the same services of the GMAC, via the internet.
As member and lead organizer of the Quezon City Council on Population or QCCP, a SEC registered organization of organizations, the foundation caused the creation of the Quezon City Population and Welfare Development Council and have supported the conduct of the 1st Quezon City Health and Demographic Survey which is now being used by the city government in its development and strategic planning. Currently, with partner members of QCCP, Bagong Henerasyon undertakes the project entitled “TEEN MOBILE CENTER” that would help students and the youth in addressing the issues of Adolescent Reproductive Health.
In partnership with the European Commission and the Philippine NGO Support Program Inc., Bagong Henerasyon conducted the “Adolescent Reproductive Health Advocacy Workshop on STIs and HIV-AIDS (ARHAW on HIV-AIDS)” which culminated in the celebration of the International AIDS CandleLight Memorial.
In collaboration with the Humanitarian Legal Aid Foundation (HLAF), the Rotary Club of South Triangle (RCST), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of Quezon City (BJMP-QC), and the Quezon City Government, Bagong Henerasyon paved way to the donation of computers in order to declog the Quezon City Jail of prisoners who have served their time, those requiring legal assistance and those entitled to bail or recognizance. The capacity of QC Jail is only for 700 prisoners, yet it has over 3,000 detainees. The main problem lies in the fact that they cannot provide legal defenses for themselves and lack of monitoring of their sentences. A Prisoners monitoring software created by HLAF will be used in order to efficiently monitor all the prisoners’ records in QC Jail, the nature of their cases and the charged length of detention. Free legal assistance will be given to those who need it to get out of QC Jail.
In order to ensure peace and order in the community, together with the Barangay Officials of District One, they organized the Pistoleros ng Distrito Uno, whose mission is to give training on Gun Safety and Responsible Gun Ownership, where 1,500 barangay officials, Barangay Public Safety Officers, Lupon Tagapamayapa and other NGOs attended said training.
Bagong Henerasyon also provides assistance to informal settlers in purchasing the lots they are presently occupying through the Direct Sale Program of the Quezon City Government and through the Community Mortgage Program of the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation and other similar instruments of the national and local governments.
Bagong Henerasyon has also been giving joy to a lot of children through the BH Sine, a roving cinema that allows children to watch on a big screen just outside their houses, and through the Bee Happy with Jollibee parties that they give to the less fortunate children every Christmas season in the different barangays.
